About me
Hello! I'm Matthias Calis, I'm 33 years old and a storyteller at heart.
I have an interest in many things ranging from game design to writing and music composition, all of which are ultimately some form of storytelling. Currently I am focused on programming and IT, but in my spare time I enjoy writing stories or working on my own little storytelling and composition projects. I’ve worked on games, participated in game jams, created mods for games and have participated film festival projects such as the 48-hour film.
View some of my projects here!Because I have an interest in both the creative and the technical side of making digital stories, I’m uniquely capable of bridging these worlds and translating the needs of creative people to the technical-minded, or vice-versa.
During my study game architecture and design at Breda University of Applied Sciences I wore many different hats as an indie. At BuaS, I was taught all aspects of game creation: art, programming, and design. Later, I specialized in (interactive) audio. The practical, project-based approach of the courses has allowed me to get hands-on experience recording, editing, and integrating sound effects as well as writing and recording music for games.
I've worked for Savvii managed WordPress hosting and Rootnet which has allowed me to deepen my technical skills and develop my communication and collaborative skills. As a support agent and later a junior DevOps I've learned to quickly identify a problem's root cause by listening carefully and asking the right questions.
